COMMUNITY NEWS
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the traditional owners, the Gunditjmara people, on whose land we learn, work and play. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders- past, present and emerging believing that we can walk together for a better future.
Principal's Message
Welcome back everyone! I hope that you all had a relaxing and restful holiday break. I hope that you were lucky enough to find some warm weather and sunshine. We are super excited to see everyone back filling our classrooms and playgrounds with laughter, learning and stories of your holiday adventures.
Today's newsletter will just be a short one to welcome everyone back and to inform families of some upcoming dates and events.
Term 3 is always a very busy term with many different events happening inside the classrooms and in the wider school community. I encourage all families to keep an eye on Class Dojo, our Facebook page and future newsletters for reminders and updates.
RESPECT YOURSELF, RESPECT OTHERS & RESPECT YOUR ENVIRONMENT!
Regards
Jamie
Congratulations
Congratulations to Isabella Camilleri (1/2YW) and her family who welcomed her new little brother Theo John in the holidays.
We can't wait to meet him. We are sure that he will be very loved by his 3 older sisters.

School Bus Travel Alteration- Term 3
If your child travels home from school by bus, the process changed this term. Bus lists will now be generated from PAM.
Families wishing to set a standard schedule for their child/ren can have this set up by the school. This means they will not have to notify travel arrangements each day/week, only if there is a change to these arrangements. It is important to note that after the first few days we will not be double checking PAM lists against the old class bus checklist system and will assume the PAM lists are correct.
If the standard travel arrangements do change for a particular day, parents can log into PAM by 2pm and add or remove their child to the bus. After this time, parents will need to call the office to notify changes and their child will be informed of this change if they do not yet know.
Families who choose not to have a standard schedule set up can go into PAM each day/week and set their child's bus schedule themselves.
NOTE: it is important that all students are aware of their end of day travel arrangements.

Head Lice
Head lice are common in school-aged children and we are seeking your cooperation in checking your child's hair and in those instances where head lice or eggs are found, treating your child's hair. Please visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au and search for "head lice (nits)" for advice on finding, treating and preventing head lice.
No treatment kills all nits, so the hair must be retreated after 7 to 10 days to kill any head lice that may have hatched from nits that survived the first treatment. Only use treatments made specifically for removing head lice. Do not use a hair dryer after applying a treatment, as the heat can destroy the active ingredient.
Learning and Teaching
3 Way Learning Conversations - Please remember to book your time.
In Week 2 of this term (next week) we will hold our 3 Way Learning Conversations. These conversations provide opportunities for teachers, students and parents to discuss the progress reported on in the End of Semester reports, as well as future goals and areas for improvement. Families will be invited to book at time on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th or Thursday 25th to meet with teachers for these conversations via www.schoolinterviews.com.au
The access code is: wrcx9
Specialist Teachers will also be available for conversations on these days.
3/4DL reports will be sent out when Miss Ds returns from her leave and 3 Way Conversations will be held after this.
End of Semester School Reports
Reports were sent home at the end of last term. Reports are also available online by logging into your PAM accounts - you can view these in the Student Assessment section from the Profile Menu drop down box.
Any questions or concerns you have about these reports can be raised with your child's classroom teacher or discussed at our 3 Way Learning Conversations to be held next week.
3/4DL reports will be sent out when Miss Ds returns from her leave and will not be available in PAM until then.

New Walls in the 1/2 Pod
New Walls in the 1/2 Pod
Over the holidays we had some new walls installed in the 1/2 area. These walls are moveable. This will allow teachers the ability to close them over when they need to or keep them open. This is a wonderful space for lots of engaging learning to occur.
Special thanks to Mick and Maddy from M & M SUTTON BUILT for completing these works for us so efficiently and effectively.

In this edition of SchoolTV - MINDFULNESS
Over the last decade, mindfulness has been slowly rising in popularity with many individuals practising it on a regular basis. Evidence based research has found that there are many benefits to mindfulness which has prompted schools across the nation to implement this practice into their daily routines.
Mindfulness can be described as attention training for your brain, enabling you to focus on something without judgement and to stimulate curiosity. Mindfulness can be practised in a number of ways and is something that can be done by everyone - no matter what your age! It has been practised by many cultures around the world, but it is not exclusively affiliated to any particular philosophy or religion.
Mindfulness helps improve memory, engagement and performance. Its positive effect on the brain can improve immunity, mental wellbeing, learning ability, emotional health and even, time management. It is especially important in this era of information overload as our attention is constantly being pulled in many directions making us more distracted.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents can learn the best way to introduce this mindfulness to their children, implementing into their daily lives to have an overall positive impact on family relationships.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.
